A flight to Manchester was forced to return to Bridgetown quickly after takeoff.

The Virgin Atlantic flight #VS78 departed Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, Monday, March 24 2025 evening at 21:10 AST.

The Airbus A330-300 (registration G-VLUV) stopped the climb at 8,000ft when pilots noticed smoke in the cockpit.

The aircraft started to burn/dump fuel, holding at 5,000ft in roder to reduce the weight before an emergency landing.

The flight landed back in Bridgetown 47 minutes after departure and the flight was cancelled.
